 lol, old web design
Got bored and found this from randomwebsite.com. Quote: This site looks best when viewed when your screen is set to a 800x600 resolution, but your screen resolution is 1920x1080. Please change your screen resolution to best view the site, if possible. Thanks! lolno 800x600 is tiny

Haha, Iframes as well.. and a bad attempt at custom select drop-down's which instead open a new popup window.
Glad he said the site hasn't been updated since 2003 mind. Was half-expecting "you are not using IE - please change browser" too.

 Re: lol, old web design
tbh you need a very good reason to have a fixed width website. Generally if it can't be shown on all common browsers and screen resolutions, it's not worth visiting.

Fixed width is fine, it just needs to be inside a table of some sort so it's not a problem if the screen gets bigger Edit: Oh look, i found some other old website that looks kinda funny http://www.combatgold1.co.uk/Edit: Hahaha!! I think i just found some part of some old grudge still hanging about here ;P James, you might want to purge your swearfilter for silly stuff.

 Re: lol, old web design
I find fixed width ok generally - unless it's too restricted. The previous company designed sites to 960px width, give or take. If there's not much on the page, then 1650 ish width looks pretty bad - trying to fill that space then could mean it looks too overcrowded on a "typical" monitor. I suppose the important bit is to get the design right so that the page flows nicely regardless. Interestingly Sitepoint recently re-designed to a fixed width. Quote: Edit: Hahaha!! In fact Corey was sat right next to me too. How the hell that's still been there I don't know.
